Black Magic
Black Magic is best understood as a practice that might well have been used by unscrupulous dictators or psychopaths, e.g., Hitler, Caligula and certain Kings of France. In effect, it seeks to dominate other people unjustly in order to ride roughshod through life in greater personal comfort. It is a kind of psychic slavery. As seems to be the case with Mafia Dons, the personal ambitions of a Black Magician are much like those of any normal person - nice car, nice house, swimming pool, good food and the best sex - but instead of working harder to achieve these goals, he filches them by foul means. The Mafia Dons reside mainly in Sicily and the USA where they seek to defy the law. The power behind Black Magic has its origin in beings who seek to rise above cosmic law.
backDo black magic and white magic differ?
The crucial factor is 'intention' and 'will'. In other words: it is not what the goals are, but the extent to which a person is willing to force them through. For example: sex is of little interest to a bodiless spirit, but if a human being is troubled by sex to the point where he is willing to commit violence, then the spirits become interested. Nothing is evil as long as it remains an abstract idea or an unfulfilled fantasy in a person's mind, but it becomes evil once that person attempts to realise his desires by force. A Black Magician is someone who has already submitted to the Lords of Chaos and is effectively serving their ends. A White Magician is dedicated to Nature and Divine Order, and usually works for the common benefit or for the welfare of other people.
backCan we get stuck in black magic by chance?
The short answer is: yes, you can. But at some point along the line, there has to be knowing consent. By trying a little ill-judged magic, by tasting a little carefree sex, by saying too much at the wrong moment, and by many other possible lapses of care and attention .. one can stray inadvertently closer towards evil. This is why self-mastery and exercises that enhance one's self-control are so important: mind over matter, so to speak. If you know and understand your own self then you can do far more to patrol the perimeter and keep guard. Never imagine that you are cleverer or stronger than the powers of evil. Never fool yourself into thinking that you are now proof against all their wiles and temptations. Even a Master dare not think that! Indeed, every Occultist is a prime target and to bring down a Master would be a feather in someone's infernal cap.
backJust as criminals usually try to conceal their crimes and so escape detection, so the perpetrators of black magic endeavour to cover their tracks. It is wise, therefore, to be suspicious of any system, and wary of any teacher, that promises everything and pretends that there is no danger. Be alert to the possible motives of anyone who flatters you. When someone starts buttering you up with a trowel, keep your hand on the hilt of your sword. Do not fall for the bait of easy riches, enormous power or sex whenever you want it. Remember that spiders don't just make their webs sticky, they go to the trouble of also making them sweet. So be constantly alert to the old, old trick of disguising a little menace inside a big bundle of pleasing promises. It is a trap. If they try to coax you into doing something that is contrary to Nature, have your running-shoes ready.
backThe Black Mass is just a piece of religious mockery and is no more dangerous than any other kind of insulting blasphemy. It is particularly horrifying for those Christians who believe in the doctrine of transubstantiation, i.e., that the bread and wine used in the mass become the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ at the moment of consecration. But it does not have the same appalling effect on persons of another religion. It is easy to see that the Black Mass leaves Jews, Muslims and Hindus indifferent and the powers of evil would have to fish around to find some ghastly equivalent in their cases.
It is best to be extremely wary of anything that distorts the pious words or rituals of any respectable religion. A true Occultist has no particular interest in offending anyone, so why would he recite the Lord's Prayer backward or invert the crucifix? The main feature of black magic is that it does not merely do evil; it tries to turn your good acts to evil if it can. It seeks to desecrate whatever the human heart may hallow and thereby demolish the soul.
backIf I were then of course I would not tell you. I could not utter a bare-faced lie, but I would be allowed to do everything else to avoid detection. So I would make sure that my answer gave the wrong impression. To pin me down, you would need to be clever and quick thinking. A Black Magician does not want to identify himself in case he attracts the attention of the 'astral police force', i.e., the forces of law and order. Now having said all that, I am perfectly happy publicly to declare that I am not a Black Magician. I do not practice black magic at all because I work for truth and the Great Light.
backCan't you work it out for yourself? Look here. If I were a Black Magician , I would never have raised the topic or said anything to rouse your interest or put you on your guard. Far from rolling out a red carpet and inviting you into my parlour, I would have been side-tracking you, diverting your attention, and putting all sorts of obstacles in the way. Instead of which, I am dedicating a whole section of this book to that issue. This is not the stratagem of a fox who is keen to nab a rabbit. This is only a book, of course, and you cannot see my eyes or read my body language, but if ever we should meet I will allow you to hit me with garlic and splash me with Holy Water.
backDo you think there are 'false' Occultists?
There are out and out rogues and charlatans, i.e., hoaxers and cheats who try to take advantage of honest folk. But there are also a large number of perfectly decent people who happen sincerely to believe in something that is wrong. I despise the former but I sympathise with the latter. I would punish the first sort but I would forgive the second sort. The difficulty is that sincere but misguided people often try to do things that I regard as evil and however much I like them as human beings, I cannot not stand idly by and let them harm others. I have to do something or else I would be guilty of a grave failing called 'inaction in face of evil'. There is a further complication in that such people may sincerely believe that I am their enemy or that I am evil. They may even set out to destroy me; in which case I may legitimately defend myself, even if that causes danger to them.
backWho the hell are you to interfere?
A man who is qualified to act may not refuse when there is an urgent need for him to act. For example, a doctor may not ignore a street accident, and the police may not ignore a crime. It is implicit in their status and their function that they will always do the appropriate thing. Well, a Master would not interfere with another person's free will, but he does have the implicit duty to thwart the actions of evil people whenever it lies within his power to do so. I am not at all concerned to extract the teeth of rabid dogs, but I have a great interest in not allowing them to bite people.
backHow do you thwart evil people?
To be pedantic, people are not evil. They are too small and puny. But when they serve evil, willingly or unknowingly, they are referred to as wicked. The best defence against folk who have wicked intentions is to bounce back the effect of their deeds on to their own heads. If they seek the help of evil agents, or try to obtain control of evil powers, then I just authorise those evil entities to break their contract. If you check the records: most gangsters are killed by other gangsters rather than by the police. As for silly, naive people who do not even appreciate how wicked and distorted their thoughts and actions have become - I just shut down their access to supernatural power and stop their ability to do magic. We could give this kind of lesson a title such as: close encounters of the laxative kind.
backHow and why are you able to do this?
I have the right and the duty to do it. I am a Master and I have been given authority by the Beyond. Such a statement may strike your ears as both grandiose and absurd. You may even feel inclined to scoff. All I can say is that others have scoffed .. but they do not scoff now. Someone or something gave them a short dose of scoff mixture.
If I were a fraud, or if I were mentally ill, or if I was just suffering from 'la folie de grandeur' .. how is it that none of my avowed enemies have ever been able to use their magic to harm me?
I have been 'denounced' by some of the largest and most influential Occult groups in the USA, and they have tried to frighten certain bookshops into boycotting my work .. and yet here I am. Instead of asking me to be immodest, perhaps you should ask them why they have failed to shut me up. To echo Edmund in King Lear, I feel like crying: "Now Gods, stand up for bastards!"
